Maine Invites You

Maine Tourism Association sought out Naretiv to redesign their 176-page annual travel planner Maine Invites You, a glossy magazine distributed to 400,000 people around the world. The project involved a complete redesign. We refreshed everything about the book, from cover typography to ad flow. Our design team has now produced Maine Invites You for four years running.

Along with the publication design, Naretiv handles research and writing, photography sourcing and licensing, and special thematic design that varies each year. We manage the input and expectations of Maine Tourism Association, the Maine Office of Tourism, and eight regional chambers of commerce.

For the 2022 issue, a celebration of Maine Tourism Association’s centennial year, we dug into the Maine State Archives to incorporate historic photographs and documents. And we took it even further, commissioning Maine-based photographer Nate Levesque to re-create iconic photographs that we curated from each region of Maine. We spliced the new images with historic photographs and created unique spreads throughout the magazine that tell a story about each region, its visitors, and the vibrant history of tourism in Vacationland.
